The 5-Step Routine That Changed My Clients' Skin

5-step routine Char Skincare esthetician tips skincare routine

After nearly 30 years in the beauty industry — and over 20 of those as a licensed esthetician with my own studio — I've worked with thousands of clients facing every kind of skin challenge imaginable.

And the question I get most often isn't "What's the best product?"

It's "Why isn't my skin changing?"

The answer, almost every time, is the same: there's no consistent routine in place.

That's exactly why I built Char® Skincare around a five-step method. Not because five steps sounds good — but because after decades in the treatment room, I know what skin actually needs, in what order, and why.

Step 1: Cleanse

Cleansing isn't just about removing makeup. It's about preparing your skin to receive everything that comes after. A proper cleanse removes the day's buildup so your skin can actually absorb the next steps.

Step 2: Tone

Toning is the step most people skip — and it shows. A good toner helps balance your skin's surface and primes it for serums and treatments.

Step 3: Treat

This is where targeted ingredients go to work. Whether you're focused on hydration, uneven tone, or texture, this step is where consistency pays off over time.

Step 4: Moisturize

Every skin type needs moisture — yes, even oily skin. This step seals in your treatment and supports your skin's natural barrier function.

Step 5: Protect

In the morning, this means SPF. Always. No exceptions. Protection is the single most important thing you can do for long-term skin health.

I didn't create this routine overnight. It's the result of 20 years of working one-on-one with real clients, continuing my education, and collaborating with an experienced product development team to bring these formulas to life.

My goal with Char® Skincare has always been simple: to bring the treatment room home with you.

Start with the five steps. Be consistent. And give your skin the time it needs — because real results don't happen overnight, but they do happen.
